The Nepalese Consulate in New York issued an urgent notice warning Nepali citizens in the US against misusing public benefits or violating visa conditions.

1. Providing false or misleading information to access subsidized services (healthcare, housing, family support, education) may lead to legal action affecting visas or Green Cards.

2. 2024 data shows Nepalis among the top users of subsidized services, prompting a temporary suspension of immigrant visas for Nepalese nationals.

3. Overstays and unauthorized work on B1/B2 visas have led to a visa bond requirement of USD 5,000–15,000, effective January 21, 2026.

Nepalis are urged to follow US laws strictly, avoid unauthorized public assistance, and respect visa rules to prevent serious consequences.
