17 years ago today - A Large international protests by the Tamil diaspora and supporters demanded an immediate ceasefire in the Sri Lankan civil war and greater international intervention.

The war (1983–2009) between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE caused heavy civilian casualties and allegations of serious human rights abuses.
