Netflix is basically doubling down on Germany. They just revealed a bunch of new German originals—17 movies, shows, and documentaries—all telling local stories, and they’re even bringing Berlin back for a second season in 2026.

On top of that, Germany is changing the rules so streaming platforms like Netflix have to reinvest at least 8% of what they make in Germany back into the local film industry. The whole idea is to pump more money into German productions, and it looks like the big international streamers are already on board.
